Fascia

The board your gutter hangs off.

Timber fascias are painted, and once the paint goes the wood takes on water and starts to split. We take the old board off, check the rafter ends behind it, and fit a new uPVC fascia in its place.

Soffit

The underside of the eaves.

It closes the gap between the fascia and the wall. A new uPVC soffit keeps weather and birds out of the roof space.

Bargeboard

The sloping board on a gable end.

Often the first to rot because it catches the weather side-on. We fit it in white or anthracite grey.

Dry verge

Caps along the gable edge.

They clip over the ends of the tiles and are fixed on, instead of relying on mortar that cracks and falls out.

Vents and bird comb

Air in, birds out.

An over-fascia vent lets the roof space breathe, and a bird comb stops nests going in under the bottom row of tiles.

Dry ridge

Fixed on, not bedded in mortar.

The ridge along the top of the roof, fixed mechanically rather than bedded in mortar.

Cladding

In place of worn timber.

Questions people ask us

Can't you just fit new boards over the old ones?
Some firms do, because it's quicker. But a board fixed over rotten timber hides the rot rather than stopping it. We take the old boards off first so we can see what's underneath before anything new goes up.
Can I have a colour?
Yes. The ones on this site are white and anthracite grey, and black for gutters. Ask about anything else.
Do you do the gutters at the same time?
We usually do. The gutter is fixed to the fascia, so it makes sense to replace them together. Ask if you only want one or the other.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes. Our standard guarantee is 10 years on the workmanship and 20 years on the product.
